My name is Jessica McCrory, and my husband, Brett, and I bought our house on Lippizan in August 2018. We have four children, ages 8 to 16! As small business owners, we run our own fiber splicing business. I have been running marathons for over a decade and have completed ultramarathons for the past two years. As of January 2026, I am training for my third 100-mile race, which is scheduled for March, just before the Bearathon! I truly believe that everyone is born to run and that it’s important to move your body outdoors. I'm excited to share my passion for outdoor running and to help build a running community in Surrey Village!

Morning Trail Run

Sample 12-Week Training Structure

                                  Sample 12-Week Training Structure
Monday: Rest or Cross-Train (30-60 min: bike, swim, yoga)
Tuesday: Easy Run (3 miles)
Wednesday: Easy Run (3-4 miles)
Thursday: Easy Run (3-4 miles) or Hills (Cameron Park, or our neighborhood streets of Stallion or *other street)
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Long Run (Build from 4 miles up to 10-12 miles)
Sunday: Rest or Light Cross-Training

Bearathon Specific Tips

  • Embrace the Hills: The Bearathon includes trails in Cameron Park, so incorporate hill training to prepare for the "toughest half in Texas" reputation.

  • Group Runs: Encourage running with your fellow neighbors, training plan linked here and GroupMe linked here

  • Fuel & Hydrate: Practice fueling with carbs and fruits, and stay hydrated, just as you would during the race.

  • Listen to Your Body: Don't push too hard too fast; a 12-week plan builds endurance without injury.

  • Flexibility: Adjust the schedule for busy weeks, but stay consistent overall.
